The word photosynthesis can be separated to make two smaller words:
Step 2 In plants, special cell structures, called chloroplasts absorb the light from the sun. Step 3 Chloroplasts are responsible for the production of chlorophyll the stuff that makes plants green.
As glucose is produced, the plant also makes oxygen, which is released back into the atmosphere after photosynthesis is over. The second step in the Photosynthesis is the Calvin Cycle.
First the chlorophyll the chemical that makes plants leaves green and traps sunlight traps the sunlight in the leaves. The sunlight provides energy for the plants. Next the sunlight gives the plant energy to start the food-making process.
Then the roots suck nutrients up to the leaves and then the leaves mix carbon dioxide, the nutrients and water to make their food. Finally they throw out their waste oxygen. Carbon dioxide and water are two of the three products needed for photosynthesis. After the plant obtains water from the soil, the water molecules go into the root cells, and through the vascular tissue and through the stem, and to the leaves.
The carbon dioxide is obtained from the air. Air passes through the stomata and into the air spaces of the kinda spongy mesophyll cells. The plant then uses the energy from the sun to split the water into hydrogen and oxygen; the oxygen is then released into the air, while the hydrogen is used to make a special compounds called ATP and NADPH.
Through a subsequent series of steps that just happen to not require lighthydrogen atoms from NADPH are combined with carbon dioxide from the air to produce glucose a simple sugar.
The energy required to synthesize glucose is supplied by breaking down the ATP that was produced earlier. Sunlight is absorbed by the chorophll which is a chemical in the choroplasts. The light energy is then converted to chemical energy. The oxgyen is then given away as a gas and the hydrogen becomes part of the glucose that the plant produces!
What are to two main reactions in photosynthesis?
The first main reaction in photosynthesis is that the plant using it creates food with sunlight. The second main reaction of photosynthesis is that the plant makes carbon dioxide Co2. What is the step by step process of photosynthesis? Sunlight strikes the leaf.
Chlorophyll captures light energy. Plants use energy in sunlight to make food. What is the first step in photosynthesis? The energy from the sun, raises an energy level in the chlorophyll molecule, causing electrons to leave the molecule and travel along the electron transport chain ETC in a series of oxidation and reductions.
Photolysis splitting of water occurs, and the electrons produced, replace those lost. This is the Light Dependant stage as it relies on light energy What steps are involved in photosynthesis? State the process of photosynthesis as a chemical reaction. Summarize briefly the process of photosynthesis from absorption and of light to production of glucose. The process of photosynthesis is divided into two main parts: light dependent reactions and light independent or dark reactions.
The light dependent reaction happens when solar energy is captured to make a molecule called ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Start studying Biology- Chapter 8: Photosynthesis. Learn vocabulary, terms, and more with flashcards, games, and other study tools.
Summarize process of photosynthesis. 1. Water and carbon enter the chloroplast. 2. When the sun hits the leaf, the chlorophyll absorbs the energy. A group of green pigments found in plants.
It is a pigment. 6 h 2 o + 6 co 2 > c 6 h 12 o 6 + 6 o 2 equation of photosynthesis.
This reaction needs day - or sunlight in is, in many step reactions, carried out in (green ) plants; chlorophyll is an important and essential intermediate, making light energy available for some of the energy consuming steps herein.
The process of photosynthesis in plants consists of a complex series of biochemical reactions. It converts CO2 into carbohydrate which involves the reduction of carbon with H2O as reductant.
Reduction is a chemical reaction that results in the gain of electrons, or gain of hydrogen, or loss of oxygen. While photosynthesis is a process wherein plants absorb energy directly from the Sun to prepare their own food, cellular respiration refers to the process wherein the energy that is stored in plants in the form of glucose is used by organisms for their own survival.
